| Take a weekend break in Cambridge |

Be inspired by the museums and art galleries, spot the stars of the future at a student theatrical production, or see a show at the Arts Theatre. Cambridge has profoundly shaped the world we live in, and there’s a real sense of living history almost everywhere you look. Great minds like Newton, Dirac and Hawking all studied or lectured at Cambridge and it still remains one of the top universities in the country. The University and its 31 colleges dominate the centre with atmospheric cobbled courts, chapels, gardens and bridges, but Cambridge is no museum piece - dramatic modern architecture sits side by side with the traditional, and lovers of architecture will find much to admire.
GreenCambridge truly is a green city – the fen landscape flows right into the centre along the river Cam, cows grazing within sight of Kings College Chapel. You can picnic under the trees along The Backs and admire the stunning displays of flowering bulbs in Spring, or while away the hours in beautifully kept College grounds and Fellows gardens. The public parks and commons provide a paradise for children with play equipment, football pitches and tennis courts. There are also many worlds to visit all in one place. On the same day you could marvel at ancient Egyptian relics in the Fitzwilliam Museum, visit the North and South Poles at the Scott Polar Institute, take a look at the original specimens that Darwin collected on his famous trip on The Beagle, gaze upon old masters by artists such as Canaletto, Titian and Cezanne, take in some modern art at Kettle’s Yard……and they're are all within walking distance of each other. There is no doubt that Cambridge is one of the best locations for a weekend or longer break.
Cambridge is easy to get to by road, rail or air - just 50 minutes from central London and 20 minutes from London Stansted Airport.
